Black Copal is a tree resin native to Central/South America, widely used as an offering to the Mayan pagan idol gods, and was considered the "food of the gods." Obtained from Protium grandifolium A resin traditionally used for funerals and divine rituals. Unlike other sweet mild copal types, it has a more vibrant and complex strong, balsamic and even mystical scent.


A species with pine-like undertones, it is ethereal, lively, bright and resinous, but also green, peppery and elemi spicy, the green fresh notes are plentiful and persistent, even resembling a hollyhock scent.

Copal Resin Essential Oil Botanical name of the oil is Daniella olivera. Copal word is derived from the Nahuatl language word copalli meaning incense.

Oil is extracted from the resins of copaiba tree using special low heat and low atmospheric pressure. Copal resin oil is being used for its medicinal properties. Oil is very rare and unusual commonly found in the savanna and grasslands of Kenya.
Mossy citrus undertone odor, pleasantly warm, comforting, sticky, resinous aroma with some amber type qualities and some sweetened nuances.
